PRIVACY / LOCAL FIRST
Privacy Policy
We treat privacy as a product rule: data that can stay on your device is not sent to a server, and when we do not need to identify a player, we do not build a mechanism to do so.
No advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking.
Progress, test cases, achievements, and gameplay events remain on your device.
01 / OVERVIEW
Overview
This policy explains how CASTORWORKS handles relevant data when you use the Code Defense app and its official website. The current version does not provide accounts of our own, cloud saves, advertising, third-party behavioral analytics, or remote configuration services.
We operate no game servers. The app talks to Apple services in only two cases: completing or restoring a purchase through StoreKit, and syncing achievements and leaderboard scores when you are signed in to Game Center.
This policy also applies to the Mac version. It runs in the App Sandbox and requests only outgoing network access, used for the StoreKit and Game Center communication described above, and it handles data the same way as the iPhone and iPad versions.
02 / ON-DEVICE DATA
On-Device Data
To preserve game state, the app records the following data in its on-device application container:
- Game progress:Per-issue clear state, passed test cases and challenges, run counts, earned achievements, the best stress test wave and its seed, and which issue briefings and enemy introductions you have seen.
- Player configuration:Difficulty, your last selected libraries and debug tools, interface language, and the sound setting.
- Session log files:In-game actions and their times, such as towers built, upgrades, the programs you write, and wave results, saved as one file per app launch.
- Local gameplay events:Event names, times, and in-game enumerations or counts for run outcomes and purchase-flow states.
At most 500 recent gameplay events and the 30 most recent session log files are retained, solely for on-device product verification. They contain no names, contact details, device identifiers, or free-form text, and the current version does not upload them to CASTORWORKS. You can view and delete session log files in the Code Defense folder of the Files app; on a Mac they are in the Documents folder of the app’s sandbox container, where you can view and delete them in Finder.
If your device is signed in to Apple’s Game Center, the app submits your earned achievements and best stress test wave to Game Center, and the leaderboard shows your Game Center nickname and score to other players. The game works the same without Game Center. Apple processes this data; CASTORWORKS does not receive your Apple Account information.
03 / APP STORE PURCHASES
App Store Purchases
The full game is offered as a one-time, non-consumable purchase through Apple StoreKit. Apple handles the purchase, payment method, Apple Account authentication, refunds, and transaction records.
Through StoreKit, the app receives only the product and transaction state needed to display the product, verify entitlement, and restore purchases, such as the product identifier, localized price, entitlement validity, and revocation state. CASTORWORKS does not receive your full payment-card details or Apple Account password.
Apple’s handling of this data is governed by its Privacy Policy.
04 / WEBSITE ACCESS
Website Access
The official website sets no marketing cookies, uses no third-party analytics scripts, and provides no accounts, comments, forms, or personalized advertising. Your language preference is stored only in your browser.
To deliver pages, maintain security, and diagnose faults, website hosting or network providers may automatically generate standard technical logs such as IP address, access time, requested page, browser or user-agent information, response status, and security events. The relevant infrastructure processes these logs under its own security and retention rules. We do not combine them with on-device game data or use them for player profiling or advertising.
06 / RETENTION & DELETION
Retention and Deletion
- On-device game data remains on your device until overwritten by a newer save, you clear app data, or you delete the app.
- Local gameplay events use rolling retention, capped at the 500 most recent events; session log files are capped at the 30 most recent.
- Deleting the app normally removes its local application container. System backup and restoration are controlled by your device settings and Apple services.
- Apple retains App Store purchase records and entitlements under its policies; they may remain restorable through StoreKit after reinstallation.
- Achievements and leaderboard scores submitted to Game Center are retained by Apple under its policies and can be managed in your device’s Game Center settings.
- Retention periods for website infrastructure logs are determined by the providers responsible for page delivery and security.
07 / CHILDREN
Children
The app does not ask players to provide age, name, contact details, or other identity information, and it contains no targeted advertising, chat, or user-posted content. The Game Center leaderboard shows a nickname and score only when signed in. Minors should use App Store purchasing under guardian supervision; purchase approval, Family Sharing, Ask to Buy, and Game Center availability are controlled by Apple Account and family settings.
08 / SECURITY & CHANGES
Security and Policy Changes
We reduce data risk through data minimization, on-device storage, the system application container, and StoreKit transaction verification. No device or network transmission can be guaranteed absolutely secure, so please protect your device and Apple Account.
If we later add cloud saves, accounts of our own, remote analytics, or another feature that changes data handling, we will update this policy and the date above and provide notice in the app or on the website when appropriate.
09 / CONTACT
Contact Us
If you have questions about this policy or our data handling, contact CASTORWORKS through App Support or the developer contact channel listed on the Code Defense App Store product page. Do not send Apple Account details, payment-card data, or other sensitive information through public channels.
